One of the most amazing places in Washington state is Mt. Rainier National Park. If you are looking for the best place to stay while exploring, this Mt.Rainier cabin is the perfect base-camp.

Mt. Rainier is the most famous of Washington’s National Parks and for good reason- this giant volcano is the largest (and highest!) in the state and can be seen from most areas of Northwestern Washington. 

This park sees over 2 million people each year, all coming to gaze in awe at the majesty of Mt.Rainier.

Ideally, you would have more than one day in the park to explore all of the wonderful hikes and sites. Staying in the Mt.Rainier cabin is by far the best way to experience this area of Washington and Cedar and Pine is the perfect place to do so. 

The Best Mt. Rainier Cabin: The Experience

Cedar and Pine is your quintessential Pacific Northwest cabin, built in an A-frame shape and boasting a lovely lofted bedroom and warm wood burning fireplace, it is the ideal place for a getaway. 

The soft accents of throw pillows and cushy couches perfectly offsets the large glass windows that allow light to pour into the main living area. The trees sway outside to the breeze and it is easy to get lost in the forest while sipping a cup of tea. 

Where Is Cedar & Pine Located?

Cedar and Pine Cabin sits in Packwood, WA , a cute town south of Mt.Rainier. From Packwood you are only an hour away from the famed “Sunrise Visitor Center” and 1hr 45 mins from the Paradise Visitor Center. 

Packwood is a great place to stay while visiting Mt. Rainier since it is quiet, close to the park and located in some beautiful wilderness. While Packwood is small it is home to tons of cabins, a handful of restaurants and a small market.

When Is The Best Time To Go To This Mt. Rainier Cabin?

Visiting Mt. Rainier National Park is possible almost all year with the exception of very snowy Winter days. The Sunrise road will close at the end of Fall as the road becomes impassable. Paradise will generally stay open the majority of the year.

By far my favorite time to experience Mt. Rainier though is the Summer! From July-September the wildflowers are out, the hikes are all accessible and the sunsets are insane!

Things To Do At The Best Mt. Rainier Cabin

Sip Tea or Coffee On The Deck

Wake up slowly while you sip coffee or tea out on the beautiful porch that looks over the forest beyond. If it is raining you can easily snuggle yourself up in a blanket on the couch and watch the rain through the large windows.

Drink Wine By The Cozy Fire

Cozy up by the wood burning fire with your family while you eat dinner or sip wine after cooking in the beautiful kitchen.

Play A Board Game

One of my favorite way to pass time in cabins is to play board games- games like Cards Against Humanity, Life, and Catan are awesome ways to de-stress and disconnect from the digital world.

What To Do Near Cedar & Pine

Watch Sunrise or Sunset At Mt. Fremont Lookout

The best part about this cabin is it’s proximity to one of my favorite places in Mt. Rainier National Park! Only an hour drive and you are at one of the best places in the Pacific Northwest to watch the sunrise- Fremont Lookout! This hike is 5.6 miles RT and has an unreal view of Mt.Rainier.

Hike Into The Mt. Rainier Wilderness

There are so many hikes in Mt. Rainier it really is hard to pick a favorite, but I’ll give it a go. Tolmie Peak Lookout is a gorgeous lookout hike, Fremont Lookout, Skyline Trail, Tipsoo Lake and the Burroghs are all great hikes and boast wonderful views of Mt. Rainer.

 Go Snowshoeing or Backcountry Skiing

In the Winter time much of the mountain is closed- except for Paradise! You can snowshoe up to Alta Vista (only 1 mile RT) or Panorama Point! In this same area you will find tons of backcountry skiers and snowboarders tearing up the slopes.

What To Bring To Cedar & Pine

Food & Drinks

This cabin is quite secluded and while there are small markets in Packwood there won’t be a real grocery store for miles. Make sure to stock up on all the food you want in a larger city before heading out to the cabin. 

Your Favorite Board Game

Bring your favorite board game along with you for some delightful fun! My favorite at the moment is Catan.

Comfy Clothes

It isn’t a cabin weekend without leggings and a sweater! Bring some comfy clothes to relax in by the fire. 

Hiking Gear

This is a must! If you are planning on hiking in Mt. Rainier National Park you will want to make sure you are prepared- hiking shoes, proper layers and a day-pack with snacks and water are a must.
