SunRay Shire- The most Magical Cabins in the PNW
There is something magical about the Pacific Northwest, maybe it’s the soft moss that drapes over the trees, the endless drizzle that covers the leaves in sparkling dewdrops, or the soft sun rays that occasionally make their way through the mist.
There are many wonderful cabins sprinkled throughout these forests, but none of them make as much use of this magical atmosphere as the SunRay Shire located in Sedro Wooley, WA.

The SunRay Shire Experience
Upon arrival, you immediately feel as if you tripped and fell headfirst into a fairytale.
Small cottages are perched around the property surrounded by beautiful waterways and that iconic green moss.
To get to the cabins you walk through an apple orchard down a mossy trail to a trout pond, could it get any more magical than this you ask? Oh yes, yes it can.
Each little cabin is perched amongst giant fir and cedar trees in front of their own personal ponds and waterfalls.
The cabins themselves are a work of art, each unique and wonderful in their own way. SunRay Kelley built the 7 houses, 10 ponds, hermit hut, and yoga studio all with his own two hands.
In addition to the Sedro Wooley location Kelley has also created houses in Napa Valley, California- “The Harbin Hot Springs Temple”, the “Treehouse Joint” in Monroe, WA (marijuana-friendly, of course 😉 ), a “Peter Pan House” in Costa Rica and a “Forest House” on Orcas Island, WA.

Cabin Amenities at SunRay Shire
The cabins at the Sedro Wooley, WA location for rent are called “cold water” cabins, meaning no hot water is pumped in and you get to use a composting toilet out amongst the trees.
While there may not be an indoor bathroom the cabins do have electricity, a tea station, and wood-burning heat!
There are many joint resources for cabin dwellers, from an outdoor kitchen in the apple orchard to an outdoor shower and bathhouse.
There is even a sauna on the property if one wants to do some yoga and then relax their muscles during their stay!

The Cabin Design at SunRay Shire
Each cabin has its own charm, hand-carved wood doors, railings, and ceilings are held up by a concrete base.
The indoors area is even more wonderful, featuring a single room with a wonderful bed, small mosaic tile-lined tea station, and eclectic fireplace.
The interior is coated in what I must assume is stucco and hand-painted into a beautiful array of colors.
The “Magic Mush Room” House (seen below) features a living roof (covered in various plants) and a whimsical build of concrete and wood.
It sits in front of its own trout pond and waterfall and right next to the multiple story open-air treehouse.

The “Stump Room” (seen below) also sits directly in front of its own personal pond and across a bridge from the “Magic Mush Room” house.
It has a wonderful skylight up to the forest canopy and natural wood railings that surround the porch, making it a wonderful place to sip some of the tea provided.

The Reservation for SunRay Shire
