Your Next Seattle Weekend Getaway: Pleasant Bay Lookout in Bellingham
Don’t have time to read it now? Save it for later!
Washington is truly made for weekend getaways.
It continues to amaze me how many stunning cabins reside in the forests and coast of the Pacific Northwest.
Getaways from Seattle are easily found in every direction. To the North, the dense evergreen trees make perfect hideaways for cabins and tree houses alike.
This specific one, called “The Lookout” is perfectly situated on Chuckanut Drive only a 20-minute drive from Bellingham, WA!
The Pleasant Bay Lookout Experience
“Pleasant Bay Lookout” is an experience in a class of it’s own. The tiny 121 sq ft room is nestled into the forest overlooking the Salish Sea.
The small room has a convertible sofa which turns into your bed for the night, a tiny tea station and a deck that makes the tiny space feel so much bigger.
Large glass windows on the end of the room frame an amazing view of the tall, evergreens and deep, jade sea.
All day birds flit by and the chirping and the sound of the gentle waves puts you into an almost meditative lull.
I sat on the deck sipping wine for almost an hour, simply taking in the pristine nature that was at my fingertips.
The Lookout is built around the idea of living intertwined with nature, and from the interior to the exterior, you can tell.
A live edge coffee table and light branch crafted by the owners make it clear how much they appreciate the land they reside on. While a living roof allows the lookout to make up for the ground space it occupies, giving home to more plants and grasses.
The lady who welcomed us was absolutely lovely and took amazing care of us. Showing us the shared hot tub and different parts of the property. You could instantly tell how much she loved and cared for her homes and it was wonderful to be apart of that connection, even for only one night.

Bellingham is only about a 25 minute drive from the Air BNB so it made it super easy! We stopped at the Birch Door Cafe and it was to die for!
Honestly, I still think about driving back up to Bellingham just so we can stop there agan.
