The Cyclops Cabin Experience

With mountains towering above and the Skykomish River running alongside you, the tiny Cyclops cabin nestled into the trees is the perfect place to relax and get outside.

A stunningly large and grand window makes you feel like the forest is in the space with you and a lofted bed makes you feel a bit like a kid again.

This tiny cabin is the perfect place to explore minimal living and enjoy a weekend away from the world.

Location: Index WA Cabin

Index, WA is the perfect escape from the city. Only an hour and a half drive from Seattle, you are transported into a gorgeous forest environment that boasts stunning mountain peaks like Mt. Index and a beautiful rushing river.

Index is one of my favorite places to explore in Washington because it is just so dang accessible and has so many options for adventures!

When Is The Best Time To Go To Cyclops Cabin?

The best time to go to the Cyclops Cabin is any time!! Seriously this is a great destination year round.

In the winter you get access to skiing and snowshoeing and in the summer, climbing and hiking. You really can’t beat the accessibility of adventures in this neck of the woods.

Things To Do At Cyclops Cabin

Watch A Movie In The Lofted Bed

This tiny little house is adorable for a little couples weekend away, snuggle up in the lofted bed and watch a movie from the dozens of DVD’s provided. We watched Pirates of The Caribbean!

Have A Cozy Campfire

You definitely have to take advantage of the fact that this cabin has access to a gorgeous fire pit surrounded by beautiful woods. Bring your own marshmallows and make smores!

Watch The Trees Sway Through Your Giant Window

The best part about this cabin is without a doubt the large circular window right smack dab in the middle of the living room.

The cabin gets it’s fun name “Cyclops” from this feature and so it is only right that you take some time to enjoy it!

Hangout on the couch and drink some tea while watching the trees sway back and forth- I promise it won’t disappoint.

What To Do In Index, WA?

Climb at the Index Town Walls

Some of the best climbing in WA, and arguably the whole United States, is right down the road from you at the Index Town Walls!

Go join climbers from all over the state to scale the cliffs and hang out by the river.

This crag is mostly made up of trad climbs with a few sport climbs (so you will need your own gear) but there are tons of cool routes to check out.

Hike To Heybrook Lookout

This is such a great hike if you are new to hiking, it meanders through a beautiful forest right off the highway making it’s way up to a lookout where you get a beautiful view of Mt. Index.

This hike can also be done as a snowshoe in the winter making it accessible year round!

Hike Lake Serene and Bridal Veil Falls

Another beautiful hike- but a bit more challenging!

This hike leads you up past Bridal Veil Falls to a gorgeous alpine lake. This is one of my favorite hikes in the area and is not to be missed in the summer.

Go Skiing At Stevens Pass

One of the best ski resorts in Washington State is right down the road from you when you stay in Index, WA.

Drive the hour to the resort and enjoy beautiful views and tons of different ski routes down a variety of terrain.

Pickup A Coffee At The Espresso Chalet

Whenever I head to the Index area I have made it a habit of stopping at this fun little coffee stand. The coffee is great and the vibes even better!

In the back they have a gorgeous little patio you can hangout on and get a great view of Mt.Index and the surrounding mountains.

What To Bring To This Index WA Cabin?

Food & Drinks

This cabin is quite secluded, meaning a grocery store is going to be quite a drive. Stop at a grocery store along the way and grab food and maybe a bottle of wine if your into the sort of thing 😉

A Book

This is one of the best places I have found to just disconnect and immerse myself in a book of my choice.

Adventure Gear

This is one of the best cabins to use as a launch pad for all the adventures around Index, bring your hiking shoes and trekking poles, climbing shoes or snowboard and get ready for a weekend of exploring!
