Stardome Peru- A Stunning Geodesic Dome In Peru's Sacred Valley

Stardome Peru

Don’t have time to read it now? Save it for later!

Ready for a once in a lifetime experience? Stardome Peru was one of my favorite experiences I had in Peru. Honestly, I think it might top the list.

This brand new geodesic dome sits high in the hills overlooking the Sacred Valley of Peru. It is truly the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed at, and is staffed by some of the kindest people.

This hotel is a glass geodesic dome- giving you some of the most unreal views of the night sky one has ever seen.

Stardome Peru gives you a true taste of the culture, hospitality and spirituality of Peru. It is one of the most magnetic places I have ever been and you leave with feeling full of joy, clarity, connection and rejuvenation.

Stardome Peru: The Experience

Sitting high on the cliffs surrounding the Sacred Valley, Stardome Peru is already situated to be one of the most magical places in the world. A gorgeous view of Mt. Veronica tops off the already gorgeous scenery.

After arriving in Ollantaytambo you are picked up and driven up a quite long and bumpy road until you come upon the hotel.

You will know you are there because there really is nothing like it in this area- A glass dome perched on the hillside. It is surrounded by gorgeous flowers and bright green grass with a small, meandering path leading to it’s doors.

Immediately, you will be hit with how special this space is. Walking into the dome you will find your rooms on the bottom floor- each boasting large glass windows and stunning bedding, all designed in gorgeous Peruvian fashion.

I felt like a princess in my room, from the marble floors, faux fur throw, and stunning colors of the textiles, I had finally found my castle.

Next to the rooms is a cute little staircase that leads up to the top floor- a grand room that takes up the entire building. Little poposun chairs are dotted around the space.

Since the entire building is glass you almost feel as if you are still outdoors- only this time seated in a much more comfy chair.

Where Is Stardome Peru Located?

Stardome Peru is located in the Sacred Valley of Peru. It is famously known as the valley where Machu Picchu is located.

This is a lush green valley that is home to many amazing things to do and is quite popular with tourists. It is also known to be a very sacred and spiritual place- with many people remarking on the energy of the place.

Getting From Cusco To The Sacred Valley

Since you will most likely be starting from Cusco you can get to the Sacred Valley three ways- by bus, train or taxi. We came by bus and left by taxi- it is an hour and 40 min drive from Cusco to Ollantaytambo where you will be picked up by the hotel staff.

When Is The Best Time To Go To Stardome?

May-September

In Peru there are two seasons- Rainy Season and Dry Season. Rainy season runs from late October to early April and dry season from April-October. We came in June and it was beautiful weather with no rain and blue skies each day!

Things To Do At Stardome Peru

Do Yoga In The Morning

By far one of my favorite places I have ever done Yoga– and Stardome provides the mats! Get up early and watch the sunrise while you go through a vinyasa flow of your own.

Participate In a Plant Medicine Ceremony

Stardome offers plant medicine ceremonies such as San Pedro to those who are interested. According to the Stardome Website- “San Pedro- also called Huachuma has been called a “grandfather medicine” because of the wisdom and lessons that can be accessed during an experience with this medicine. It is used for prayer, communing with nature, gaining access to the spiritual world and expanding consciousness”

Experience A Despacho Ceremony

One of the most moving parts of my experience at Stardome was the Despacho Ceremony with a Shaman. Essentially this is a traditional ceremony from the high Andean mountains where you create a ceremonial offering of intentions and prayers to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and Apus (Mountain Spirits)

During this ceremony you also pull coca leaves and make wishes on them as well as pull different gifts to add to the ceremony which have meaning for you.

This was a beautiful way of learning about the traditions here in Peru and had me feeling so connected to myself and the environment. I will remember it forever!

Stargaze

You can’t stay in a glass dome high in the Peruvian Andes without stargazing! Pull off the cushions of the popasun chairs and watch through the windows to catch a shooting star!

Have A Movie Night

When I was there we decided it would be fun to watch the Emperors New Groove! None of us had seen it in forever and we knew it was based in Peru. We pulled off the cushions of the chairs and made a cute little bed to lay on while we watch the movie and ate fresh popcorn the staff made for us!

Eat Delicious Traditional Peruvian Food

The food here is unreal! It is garden fresh and so so yummy. All of the meals here were by far some of my favorite while in Peru and I felt like I really got a great taste of what Peruvian food was like.

In addition to the great food there was always coca tea available and fresh chamomile tea!

What To Do Near Stardome

Tour Machu Picchu

Only a train ride away is the famous Machu Picchu! I would recommend heading there either before or after Stardome.

Explore The Town & Ruins of Ollantaytambo

Right down the hill is the town of Ollantatymbo. This is an adorable town and has some beautiful ruins you can visit!

Hike Through The Sacred Valley

There are many hikes here in the Sacred Valley but one of them takes the cake- the Inti Punku Hike to the Sun Gate. This trail is 10.5 miles long in and out so it will take almost an entire day depending on your fitness level. The view at the end makes it worth it though- looking out over Mt. Veronica from a beautiful sacred site.
