Feeling like I’m on the edge of the world here i

Feeling like I’m on the edge of the world here in Nusa Penida 🌎✨🤍

Okay to be totally honest- this is one of those “instagram vs reality” spots. Don’t get me wrong, the view is still absolutely out of this world. But in my mind this was some crazy adventurous, nature spot.

Instead you walk through a small, built up town to get here, you climb the stairs with hundreds of other people and they are currently building a glass elevator (?!) to take people down to the beach.

It’s one of those places that absolutely blew up because of social media and has completely changed the entire surrounding area because of it.

It’s hard for me to see- and honestly it kind of makes me question what I do as a job. Of course I want people to get out and experience nature- but when it becomes such a giant exploitation of the earth- it makes me sad 😔

On the other hand, the people of this island, don’t have much money coming in and the tourism this provides helps them to live.

I’m not sure what the answer is- I’m curious what do you guys think about nature being used so intensely as a money grab?

Right off of one of the main streets in Ubud, we found this small little path that lead us out of the bustling city and into beautiful rice terraces. It was amazing to find such a patch of calm amidst the craziness of the city 🌿

That was one of my favorite parts about Bali! There was always such a fun bustling energy to the cities but then right next door you could find a peaceful beach, rice terrace or cafe to decompress at 😌

Ohh Bali, you are magic ✨🌈

Getting back into the swing of normal life after a big international trip is always kind of…interesting.

You just experienced something so big, so different and so amazing and now you need to figure out how to mold back into the life you had before.

It’s almost as if the trip changed a little part of you and now you have to fit that new part of you into your old life. Everything is the same when you get back, but you’re, different, somehow.

For me this has always resulted in a bit of a mental swirl- I get thrown off kilter just for a little bit and need to find my balance again.

Integrating these new, mind expanding, experiences seems to be a long game. Over time as you start to get back into the groove, those new pieces of you find places to rest or grow.

I died at how cute these little guys were- like their eyes?! Ahhh so fricken cute!! They are fiesty lil ones too- one of these guys jumped on my while I was shooting, ripped my earring out of my ear and ran off 😂

These were shot at the monkey forest in Ubud, Bali- equally one of the favorite places and most stressful places we went.
